Dillon from Smokebomb headed down to St. Lawrence Market to check out the St. Lawrence Business Association’s (BIA) commemoration of the War of 1812! The war of 1812 lasted until 1814 and to mark the 200th anniversary of its end, the BIA puts on performances and events in the St. Lawrence Market area which was called York 200 years ago.
The stage for this performance was Berczy park near Front and Church St. in downtown Toronto. Traditional dress, song and swordplay are all a part of the historic journey that the BIA takes the public on every Thursday and Saturday throughout the summer.
It’s remarkable what you can learn by taking a little time out of your day to be regaled with the songs and stories of the time surrounding the war of 1812! For more information check out The St. Lawrence Market Neighbourhood BIA’s website: StLawrenceMarketBIA.ca or OldTownToronto.ca!
